Dayton Mayor Gary Leitzell and City Commissioners Dean Lovelace and Matt Joseph joined officials from the Dayton Sister City Committee and Oiso, Japan to renew their Sister City relationship at a signing ceremony on Monday, August 6. For 44 years Dayton and Oiso have worked together to provide relationships based on cultural, educational, and information exchanges, creating lifelong friendships that provide prosperity and peace through person-to-person “citizen diplomacy.”
The renewal agreement read in part: “Through this Sister City relationship as well as its youth exchange program, we work together to provide the opportunity for our citizens to broaden their horizons and gain a more international perspective of the world today. May our ties of friendship and understanding continue for another forty-four years and beyond!”
